Ex-Canadiens captain Gionta to retire after 16 NHL seasons: report

A person with direct knowledge of the decision tells The Associated Press that 39-year-old forward Brian Gionta is retiring after scoring 291 goals and 595 points in 1,026 regular-season games, covering 16 NHL seasons.
