Sharks' Joe Thornton played with torn ACL and MCL in playoffs

San Jose Sharks centre Joe Thornton will undergo surgery to repair torn ligaments in his left knee before becoming a potential free agent this summer. Thornton tore his ACL and MCL on April 2 but returned to play in team's final four playoff games in a first-round loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
