Bruins promote Sweeney to GM, succeeding Chiarelli

The Boston Bruins have elevated Don Sweeney to general manager, replacing the fired Peter Chiarelli. Sweeney, a former Bruins defenceman, spent the past six seasons as the assistant GM.
